In collaboration with ENGIE Laborelec Chile, DroneGrid deployed its Aerial Intelligence Platform to perform automated inspections of solar sites - in northern, Chile.
DroneGrid’s platform for solar energy producers creates significant efficiencies across their entire value chain during the construction, inspection and maintenance process.
According to Dr. Elias Urrejola, Lead Solar Expert, ENGIE Laborelec Chile - “With DroneGrid’s automated solar PV panel inspection solution we were able to survey the PV plant within hours in an efficient and accurate way. Given the remoteness of the site and the different failures present in a PV plant, the platform gives us a much better overview and supported our understanding into the characterization of anomalies in our plant. This was crucial for us-, in order to fine-tune the maintenance process and boost the monitoring of the PV plant normally done by the onsite team.”
Vishal Punamiya, CEO of DroneGrid adds, “We can now confidently state that our solution can be deployed literally anywhere. The entire platform was built with scalability and simplicity in mind. The remoteness of the location and the harsh conditions were a proving ground for our entire solution - flight automation, proprietary image analytics, machine learning algorithms and how we deploy the solution with our partners.”
Why DroneGrid’s Solution:
DroneGrid’s solution for solar sites has been built from ground up for the Energy, EPC and O&M customer in mind. Once the platform is deployed customers order data products and each data product is customized for a specific use case. Each data product is purpose built to support during specific stages that a site will undergo during its lifecycle – right from planning, construction, operations to replacements.
With hundreds of sites deployed, customers have seen on average 90% reduction in inspection time and 4-8% gain in energy production.
